Christopher Philpotts

English horn

Christopher Philpotts is Principal English Hornist with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. He was also the Principal Oboe of the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra but recently retired from that position.

Previous positions Chris has held include English Horn with the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra and Principal Oboe with the Cincinnati Ballet Orchestra. He has been a featured soloist, both on English Horn and Oboe, many times throughout the Tri-State area.

He is active as a studio musician, playing various recorders, flutes, guitar, and the EWI (an electronic wind instrument), as well as Oboe and English Horn. Chris has been performing with classical and jazz ensembles in the Cincinnati area for many years.

Chris is also considered to be an oboe reed expert, presenting workshops and masterclasses throughout the United States.
