Concertnova presents an interdisciplinary experience
celebrating Latino and Hispanic heritage.

CINCINNATI, OH – On February 22, concertnova presents Alma Latina, a collaborative program highlighting Latino and Hispanic heritage through music and community engagement. Curated by cellist Nicholas Mariscal, this Mainstage concert centers on Latin American composers and the lived experiences of Cincinnati’s immigrant communities.
The program features works spanning a range of styles and time periods, from folkloric influences to contemporary classical music, with compositions by Heitor Villa-Lobos, Osvaldo Golijov, and others. The concert will be presented in a mix of Spanish and English, with translation available. concertnova is committed to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for immigrant community members and audiences of all backgrounds.
In advance of the concert, interdisciplinary artist Julia Orquera Bianco will lead a free, community-centered art workshop on January 25. Participants will create paper butterflies reflecting themes of migration, movement, and cultural exchange. The butterflies created during the workshop will be installed in the concert space and featured as part of the February 22 performance. No prior art experience is required.
